ALEX ANTICS:
DINNER FOR BREAKFAST
In my house, some pretty crazy things can happen, just because of my brother. Like the day he had pizza for breakfast. He, not we.
We had already had our breakfast when he came down, and when my mom offered him a bowl of cereal, he refused. Instead he asked for pizza.
Since Alex doesn’t have other ways to show his emotions, besides the tone of his voice, the way he shows he is excited is different. He’ll jump up and down, waving his arms and making a sound that sounds like “Mmmuah!” In a very excited tone. “Piiiiizzzaa!” He said, laughing and clapping his hands.
Now, if you asked for pizza for breakfast when you were nearly twelve years old, would your mom say yes? Probably not. But Alex would get pizza for breakfast, if he asked, because not only is he asking politely, but because he was using words to ask for it. He was using his voice.
Now, Alex will talk, but it isn’t like you can sit down and have a conversation with him, and so when he asks for reasonable things (let me remind you he has no interest in a D.S) he usually gets them.
So my mom asked me to see if we had any pizza in the fridge. None. The freezer? Nada. The downstairs freezer? Non. The fridge in the garage? Nein. So did we have to make a pizza? Yup.
We all pitched in, it took a while to find the pepperoni for what Alex called, “Pepperoooooniii pizza.” In the end, it actually looked like pizza, and Alex enjoyed it. Which is a good thing, because Alex has very high pizza standards. So, this is an example to all pizza lovers: it is in fact possible to have that yummy dish for every meal! Good luck convincing your parents on that one!
