Tom Brady could’ve been going for his 10th big ring this year… that is not the case because of … drumroll please… The Big Blue!!
On Monday night, the New York Giants (aka Big Blue) faced off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are led by the 44 year old quarterback, Tom Brady.
Brady has a record of 6-3 against the Giants after the Monday night game which resulted in a Buccaneers victory (record with both the New England Patriots and the Buccaneers) with two of the three losses in the Super Bowl. Both of those losses came when Brady was with the Pats, during the Brady-Bill dynasty.
Now you’re probably thinking to yourself right now, How did the New York Giants beat the GOAT in the Super bowl… Twice?!?! I mean, do they even have enough healthy players to field a team every week?
Well, way back when dinosaurs ruled the earth, the Giants were an amazing team!! They were led by quarterback Eli Manning and an unstoppable defense.
The Giants defense only allowed 244 yards per game (YPG) during the 2007 super bowl season, and only 204 YPG during the 2011 super bowl season.
As for the offense, well, let’s just say that they weren’t nearly as breathtaking as the defense, scoring only 18 points per game (PPG) in the 2007 season and 19 PPG in 2011.
For Brady, he had an unreal 2007 season. Throwing for 50 touchdowns and over 4,800 yards, not to mention going undefeated in the regular season and leading his team to the super bowl… only to lose to the Giants in dramatic fashion. In 2011, a little less flashy, Brady “only” threw 39 touchdowns, leading the Pats back to the super bowl with a 13-3 regular season record, only to lose to the Giants… again.
So you might be thinking now, The Giants must own Brady, right?
Well… yes and no. Brady clearly has a much better record, but it often gets overlooked by the two super bowl losses.
So although Brady may have a better record, the Giants have always found ways to beat him in the Super bowl. Even though the Giants have beaten Brady in the super bowl, the Giants right now have a team that can’t stay healthy, and they have a quarterback who wears gloves made out of butter, and falls down while running more times than my two year old cousin. On the other hand, Brady is going for back-to-back super bowl wins with one of the best offenses in the NFL.
Oh, and not to mention that he’s 44 years old.
Love this!!!!
