Let’s Look Ahead

Let’s talk about a story about healthcare workers that wouldn’t let a blizzard stop them from giving the COVID-19 Moderna vaccine in Oregon, U.S.A.
About a week ago, the first week of February, healthcare workers were driving to a vaccine site to give the vaccine to others, but a snow storm slowed them down. The very poor weather conditions of the blizzard caused the local police to close the roads and highways. Soon the healthcare workers noticed that the storm was not going to clear soon and they would not be able to get to the clinic in time to pass out the vaccines. If you did not know already, the COVID-19 vaccines can only stay in a freezer for a certain amount of time at a specific temperature, and once they warm up, they can’t be frozen again to use for a different time. Since the nurses had some extra vaccines with them in their car, and they did not want all of them to go to waste, the workers got out of their car, and started giving the vaccines to strangers in their cars, stuck in the snowstorm as well.
“I decided to start going door-to-door, car-to-car, offering” one healthcare worker said.
Another worker said “I can’t imagine a different way to spend 4 hours in a snowstorm.”
This story really does show a huge act of kindness to other people. I think we can all take away one thing from this: Be kind! Not just because I told you too, not just because of this story, but because being kind is important, and everyone needs it. Everyone has their own struggles, and their own issues, so be kind!
