The NLL (National Lacrosse League) canceled their 2021 season recently. Prior to that, they were going to have a bubble season in Toronto (inside info, let’s hope it’s right). It was going to be in April. Although this news is devastating for players. It might be for the best because in the release they said that in canceling the season, they will be prepared for the 2021-22 season come fall. Now they did say this last year when they cancelled it, but let’s hope it is right this time.
The NLL is the professional box lacrosse league. It has 13 teams, across 3 divisions. Panther City will debut in 2021-22, bringing the league to 14 teams. The team located closest to us is the New England Black Wolves. They were the number one team in the NLL before the season got shut down in 2020.
Since then the Black Wolves have lost their leading scorer, Callum Crawford. But, Jean-Luc Chetner and John Uppgren were acquired and they’ll look to replace some of that offensive firepower. John Uppgren scored 6 goals in the MLL Championship. Let’s see if that can carry over to the NLL.
I look forward to the 2021-22 season!
