The spring musical is coming!!!! This year, the play is called Katastrophe Kate. In this article, you will see an overview of the play, some information about showtimes, and some quotes from Mr. Murray, the author of the play.
The musical is about a cooking student named Katherine Sinclair. She attends the cooking school of the famous, “Madame Julia Enfant.” (for those who take French, you may understand the joke with Madame Julia’s name.) Katherine makes a really good chili, but chili doesn’t sell in New York, so they both travel to Texas, trying to sell the chili. As the story goes on, they meet Hose Habinaro, the Fosse Posse, and even see a real live Outlaws Convention.
The play would not be compete without great songs like “Did Ya Hear?,” “Texas Chili Party,” and a cast favorite, “Texas Rodeo Angel.”
According to Mr. Murray, he wants people to come to the play and have a great time.
“If people are searching for a deeper meaning,” He says, “I hope they realize that being yourself is what’s important.”
The cool thing about Katastrophe Kate, is that it isn’t one of those director-written plays that everyone secretly hates. It’s a published play, and has been performed over the USA! Even in Texas!
“I’m happy the Texans approved of my portrayal of their state.” He said at one of the first full cast rehearsals.
The showtimes are: Wednesday, March 7 at 2:00pm
Thursday, March 8 at 7:30pm
Friday, March 9 at 7:30pm
Saturday, March 10 at 12:30pm
